🍒 Let's go back, back to the beginning
I did it. I've had my Animal Crossing: New Leaf town since 2014, but today....I ERASED IT.

Don't panic. I have a modded 3DS, which means I can use a really handy feature called Checkpoint. It lets me create a backup save and restore it whenever I want. Effectively giving me the option for TWO Animal Crossing saves on one digital game! I've been interested in this option since Nintendo made it available with the Welcome Home Amiibo update. And now, for the first time since it came out in 2016, I actually used the option. I said to Isabelle and Nook, "GET RID OF THIS TOWN AND GIVE ME THE MONEY"
I'm a little surprised at how low Tom Nook values my town, to be honest. I also love how serious this feels with the escrow and the interest rate, and giving you the option to be paid out in installments or in a lump sum 😂

Anyway, here is my new town.

I decided to name my villager Lumilou. I wanted to name her Luna, but I have a friend called Luna (over at https://lunasgaminglog.com/), and it felt a bit weird to name my character that... like, what if I made my Luna a meanie? Real-life Luna would never! Every Animal Crossing town I've ever had has always been called Aerstown. I don't know why. It's just a name I came up with; it sounded a little fantasy and magical, but not too much lol. But this time, I wanted something new. So I called it Aurelia. Still whimsical. But new.
I forgot how much fun the first day in New Leaf is. And how much the game kinda lets you figure out, especially if you've never played an Animal Crossing game before, by actually chatting with the other villagers.
My starting villagers are: Bunnie, Cally, Ozzy, Greta, and Coach.
It has been a lovely little afternoon rediscovering what it was like to start a new game of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. And I'm excited to play in a new town. Don't get me wrong, I love my old town, which is why I never deleted it. But it's now pretty much become a little time capsule of a different time in my life. And it feels strangely disconnected somehow...like, everything is familiar but I never really know what to do next and just end up walking around for an hour before feeling too overwhelmed.
